as a home for a couple who has lived in hongkong for the last 13 years moving back to korea, this place should be as unique as a single house. in spite of restricted range of transformation as a wall structured apt unit, we tired to re-configure usual definitions of unit space in detail. one of major criteria of renovation in apt is converting a balcony area into room, called ‘balcony extention’. we designed each balconies of rooms not as just a extension but as a juxtaposing another space to existing rooms which generates new dynamics in between. one of attractive balcony transformed area is one besides dining room, which was designed to adopt floor seating style- ‘maru’.
